What’s Happening
Join us on Sunday, May 26 to Witness! Part of our vows as a member of the church is to witness. It’s not nearly as scary as you might think. Matthew 5:14-16

It’s Planting Season: Our Vacation Bible School (VBS) program has us digging in and growing our roots deep.

VBS will open our planting season July 8 – 11 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm here at GUMC. Watch for more information from the gardeners.

It’s Family Promise time once again! Our first service rotation is next month: June 10 – 14 and June 17 – 21.

There are some changes, but our mission is the same. We will host the families for dinner at GUMC in our fellowship area. Our partner churches will provide the meals, and we will help serve and visit with the families. GUMC will help with breakfast and lunch items for the families, as well as some volunteer opportunities.

So watch for more information, and get ready to help with our mission to help end homelessness through Family Promise. If you are interested in helping, please contact the church office directly.
Donation Opportunities
Ugly Quilts: We are in need of soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes and small shampoos to finish up our sleeping bags over the next few weeks. We need supplies for at least 20 bags. The donation basket is on the bar.
Strength in Numbers: For the month of May, we will be collecting peanut butter and jelly; plastic jars are preferred. June’s items are crossword puzzles and word search books. There are four collection boxes around Goodrich (Sims, GUMC, Browns Hardware, and Abeantogo). Thank you for your continued support in this mission.
Hurley Pediatric Foundation Project: Our annual collection for Hurley Pediatric Foundation hosted by United Women in Faith runs from May 1 to May 27. We are collecting donation items at church including: baby blankets, fleece lap blankets for oncology units, books for all ages, coloring and puzzle books with colored pencils or washable markers, and medium and small stuffed animals with tags still attached. Some donations may be shared with other organizations serving children facing difficult situations in Genesee County.
Upcoming Mission Sunday: Mission Activity For Everyone May 26: During and after coffee hour, fleece blankets will be brought out to be tied for patients receiving chemotherapy. You just make a square knot at each set of fringe, tying the two layers together. Please leave the safety pins in place. Help will be provided to get you started.
Dinner with Friends – Save the Date: We are so pleased to announce that “Dinner with Friends” will return this Fall. Mark your calendar for Friday, September 20th, for the next Community Outreach event. With a little more time to plan the Fall event, we hope to expand our outreach by getting the word out to even more friends, family, neighbors, etc.
